When I was growing up, my parents had friends that had a pool table in their basement. It didn’t quite fit. Sometimes we would have to get that short cue out to get a shot in by the wall. Sometimes we would have to lean against the couch that was just behind the corner of the table. They had a dart board too. The ceiling was too low for it, and the wall underneath it was full of holes from the misses. There was a little corner bar in that basement. Mini fridge, tiny sink, bottle that looked like they were ancient. That room was the coolest place on the planet as far as I was concerned though. All of the imperfections made it perfect.
I feel like a lot of us had that place in our life when we were young. Maybe a garage. Maybe an attic. That’s what I’ve tried to build here at The Mac. The pool room is cozy. We have those short cues just in case you’re too close to a pillar. You’re going to lean up against the other tables sometimes. Thankfully, we did put some padding underneath our dart boards, but I’m sure it’ll never stop them all.
The bar has draft and canned beers, a full cocktail menu, and we have vegan, gluten free, and non-alcoholic choices for all of our drinks as well. Oh, and we have Dr. Pepper on the pop menu. Because who doesn’t like Dr. Pepper?
Our food is simple, but effective. Charcuterie, sandwiches, pretzels, and popcorn. All those same great snacks that we got when we were playing in that games room when we were kids.
We’ve definitely got something for everyone, and everyone is welcome. I hope you’ll feel that same joy that I had when I was a kid, and that I’ve tried to recreate here at The Mac.
